NEF120: From the Rawkus 50 chosen Edmonton based hip hop group Intricate Minds with there 2007 chart topping release “Self Hypnosis”, steps out Profound Sound on his first Digital Solo EP, also as a 12″ vinyl release on Neferiu Records.

The title track “Livin Poor”, is a gritty analysis of urban poverty with an honest and hopeless self-aware approach. The single is accompanied by B-Sides Bloodfalls & You Hear Somethin’??, two tracks which flip the mood set in “Livin’ Poor”, contrasting it with a positive optimistic vibe that’s punctuated largely by the ill sample based production mastery from Justin Crates. All the while, Profound Sound entwines the classic hip hop production sound with thickly intelligent lyricism.

Included in the digital release of the EP are the instrumental tracks. We had to: they’re so sick.

Originally from Edmonton, AB now residing in Vancouver, BC, Profound Sound has performed with hip hop greats Del the Funky Homosapien, Wordsworth & Grand Agent to Canadian heavy weights Classified, Swollen Members and Scratch Bastid. Also working with legends such as Pacewon, Stones Throw recording artist Oh No, and Rawkus recording artist Hezekiah all featured on “Self Hypnosis” set the bar for Profound Sounds arrival on the solo scene. Basing his writing style on Influences from Soul, Reggae and Classic Rock artist, hoping to add little more depth and awareness to the music when speaking on topics other then women, weed and being the best thing since sliced bread, taking a more humble approach to get into the ears of folks.
